Incoming Student Information
Congratulations on your student's completion of elementary school! As a student at Carusi your child will have the opportunity to participate in one of the most exciting and rewarding educational activities our schools have to offer - BAND! Band is much more than a class to play an instrument. It is the development of a family of friends that lasts a lifetime and establishment of some rather profound physical and mental influences. These influences will determine much of your child’s success in all aspects of education, not just music.
Band students represent the top of the academic scale in our schools. We know they are averaging 89 points higher on SAT exams. We also know that Fine Art students are many of ones who enjoy a very successful high school career academically as well as in athletics and other activities. The award winning Carusi Band program has a tradition of excellence and we are looking forward to having your student next year. Your student will experience success on his or her instrument and you will be amazed at their level of musicianship at the end of the 6th grade year!

MIXED-AGES - Band is one of the ONLY times during the school day when our students get to work together with students of different ages and grade levels! Modeling more experienced students and mentoring younger ones is CRITICAL for student growth!

OPPORTUNITY - Many of our students have continued on to become leaders in the fields of music performance, education, composition etc. Some have been awarded SCHOLARSHIPS from universities and other organizations nationwide!
TEAMWORK - Band students immediately experience the value of working together, listening to each other and COOPERATING. There is no “riding the bench” in band!
EXPRESSION - All children search for expression. Playing a musical instrument allows the student to create something that reflects their individual personality and style. This creativity will strengthen independent thinking and has been proven to relieve stress/anxieties!
